Physics

Physics is the knowledge of nature, its main goal is to understand how the universe behaves. Physics is the natural science that studies the matter, its motion and behavior through space and time and that studies the related entities of energy and force. Physics like other branches of science require experimental studies which involves measurements.

Syllabus-2018

ICSE 9th

  1. Measurements and Experimentation
  2. Motion in One Dimension
  3. Laws of Motion
  4. Pressure in Fluids and Atmospheric Pressure
  5. Upthrust in Fluids, Archimedes' Principle and Flotation
  6. Heat and Energy
  7. Reflection of Light
  8. Propagation of Sound Waves
  9. Current Electricity
  10. Magnetism

Scheme of Examinations

There will be one paper of two hours duration carrying 80 marks and Internal Assessment of practical work carrying 20 marks.

The paper will be divided into two sections, Section I (40 marks) and Section II (40 marks).

Section I (compulsory) will contain short answer questions on the entire syllabus.

Section II will contain six questions. Candidates will be required to answer any four of these six questions.

Note: Unless otherwise specified, only S I. Units are to be used while teaching and learning, as well as for answering questions.

Tips for Students

  • In most of the subjects, questions in the second section are optional. Students are allowed to attempt only one extra question in each subject.
  • Practice adequate numericals before the final examination in order to build up confidence.
